Data Center Rules and Procedures -
The security of the equipment and data in our colocation area is of critical importance to the daily functioning of our operations. The customer equipment systems and data must be protected and remain reliable at all times. This document is to communicate the policies and procedures by which all customers must abide to when accessing and using the Data Center.
1. Facility Access
- TowardEX may require customer to provide evidence of insurance prior to installation of any equipment in the data center space.
- Insurance coverage shall provide general liability coverage for bodily injury, property damages and personel injury at minimum of following specifications: $2 million each per occurrence, $3 million annual aggregate, $2M/$3M personal injury, $2 million bodily injury per occurence; and $3 million bodily injury annual aggregate.
- Insurance coverage shall name TowardEX Technologies International, Inc. and its designated lenders, lessors and managers as additional insureds; Policy shall also include Waiver of Subrogation and cannot be modified or cancelled upon less than 30 days prior written notice. TowardEX will provide you with a complete listing of insurance requirements when evidence of insurance is required.
- All persons requesting access to the Data Center must be accompanied by authorized TowardEX personnel and must furnish a valid photo identification.
- Customer may access the Data Center on a 24x7 basis without time restrictions. However, Customer must notify TowardEX at minimum of one (1) hour in advance prior to making a scheduled visit to the Data Center.
- All persons must sign in when entering the Data Center to document the time and purpose of their visit. They must also sign out when leaving.
- In the event of an emergency inside the Data Center or during a force-majeure event, TowardEX reserves the right to temporarily deny access to the facility.
- Customers with past due invoices may be denied from accessing the Data Center.
- No equipment shall enter or leave the data center without proper authorization.
- "Tailgating", or entering a secured area using someone else's biometric/access card scan before the system resets, is strictly prohibited. Violation may result in revocation of access privileges for both parties.
2. Behavior and Use Policies While Inside the Data Center
- No open-toed shoes are allowed inside the datacenter.
- Doors shall not be propped open at any time. Immediately report any propped open doors to TowardEX personnel or data center security personnel.
- TowardEX will terminate your use of colocation/data center space if you or any of your agents are found in a TowardEX facility with illegal drugs, alcohol or are found in engaging in any unlawful activity, eavesdropping, foreign intelligence or trafficking in pornography.
- Food and drink are prohibited while inside the Data Center area.
- Photography is prohibited unless explicit permission is granted by the Data Center management personnel.
- Customer may not run or otherwise install any network or electrical connections without prior consent from an authorized TowardEX personnel.
- All persons must adhere to directions of the security personnel while in the Data Center.
- No contact whatsoever with racks or equipments other than your own.
- No contact with power, cooling, or fire suppression apparatus, including automated fire fighting equipments.
- Never climb, reach, access or use top levels of a rack.
- KVM cart is to be used only for console/management access to your equipments. Never remove KVM cart peripherals, including monitor and keyboard at all times.
- No EMF generating equipment other than FCC-approved personal communication devices.
- No contact whatsoever with any cabling, including network cables other than your own.
- Never install or plug any equipments or cables into power strips or network switches other than your own. Only TowardEX and datacenter management personnel are authorized for cabling installations.
3. Equipment Installation Policies
- All colocated equipments must be designed to be installed in a standard 19 inches-wide four-post telco cabinet. Customer must not install any equipment that is not certified to be mounted on a rack without using a rack mounting shelf.
- All installations inside colocation cabinets must be conducted in a professional manner and not interfere with other customer equipments. TowardEX may require the customer to clean its equipment or remove any interfering items (such as any extra peripheral equipment or cord attached to equipment). TowardEX reserves the right to refuse installation of a customer equipment if it reasonably believes that the equipment may pose a concern for material service outages or potential for damaging or interfering with other equipments.
- Any activities involving addition or removal of a colocated equipment must be communicated to an authorized TowardEX personnel prior to such activity. This procedure is required for documentation and security purposes.
